Chapter 10: MPS 100 to MPS 500 Upgrade

Preupgrade Tests
Perform the following tests before upgrading from the MPS 100 to the MPS 500.
• Verify MPS 100 is functioning properly by placing a call to the application from an outside line.
• Gracefully shut down the MPS 100 and run the Field Factory Test (FFT) on the MPS 100 TMS
through the FE laptop. Move the Ethernet connection from MPS 100 application processor to
the laptop.
Note:
Both of the preceding tests must pass before you proceed with the upgrade.
Upgrading the Software and Hardware
To upgrade both the software and hardware of an MPS 100 to an MPS 500, perform the following
installation procedures in the order shown.
Caution:
Follow all appropriate ESD procedures when working inside the MPS 100 cabinet.
1. Install all of the following components from the T1/E1 replacement kit into the MPS 100. For

page 185.
