MPSHOME/common

$MPSHOME/common/ contains files common to all TMS or other components defined on the Avaya
Media Processing Server Series system node. Key configuration files in this directory include:
• tms.cfg is located in the $MPSHOME/common/etc/tms directory and sets up the
following configurations for each TMS:
- system description
- resource definition
- TMS map
- line card load definition
- line card protocol package definition
- MPS/VPS line definition
- Synclist configuration
• <proto>.cfg is located in $MPSHOME/common/etc/tms and defines the set of
resources required to perform a particular protocol and defines specific protocol
configuration parameters. There is a file for each protocol used.
• vpshosts is located in $MPSHOME/common/etc and is the node component
hosts file. It defines each component on the network and the node each
component is running on.
• gen.cfg is located in $MPSHOME/common/etc and starts processes for the
global environment. Processes started here are alarmd, configd, consoled,
conout, and pmgr.
• sys.cfg is located in $MPSHOME/common/etc/tms/ and is used for configuring
Avaya Server Address Resolution Protocol (SARP). SARP is used by software
on Avaya MPS Series system nodes to resolve Internet addresses for
connecting to TMS.
• pmgr.cfg is located in $MPSHOME/common/etc and is used to define pool
names and allocate resources that belong to these pools.

MPSHOME/mpsN/etc

$MPSHOME/mpsN/etc/ contains files specific to a single TMS. N specifies the specific component
number. Key configuration files found in this directory include:
• vmm-mmf.cfg is located in $MPSHOME/mpsN/etc/ and loads mmf files during
boot time. This file is processed after vmm.cfg and contains options to activate
MMF files, configure application specific MMF files, and issue any other VMM
commands that need to be executed every time the system is started.
