Configuration (Part I)
application processor running the TFTP daemon. This method installs and configures ppp support
automatically.
You must install four files into the /tftpboot directory of the bootp server:
• updated boot firmware ppciboot.img (version 1.1.0)
• updated terminal server software linuxito.img (version 3.1.0)
• configuration files:
- the default config file lx------.prm
- the actual config file lx------.zip
The actual name of the lx------.xxx file is dependent on the hardware (MAC)
address of the terminal server. These files are distributed as one file named
lxperi.zip. You must rename and copy it to the lx------.prm file. Both files must
exist on the TFTP boot server.
The final names are of the form: lx(last 6 digits of the MAC address).zip
For example, the displayed MAC address of your terminal server is 00:a0:9c:
00:02:07. Therefore you rename the files to lx000207.zip and copy them to
lx000207.prm.
Note:
You must conduct all initial dialog with the Server through a 9600 baud serial connection with
the Diag port.
Perform the following steps in sequence. The sample outputs show that the MpsAP server is set at
10.7.200.1. If another address is used, the commands must be modified to use the new address.
1. Determine the MAC address.
2. Perform the initial IP setup.
3. Rename the config files.
4. Update the firmware.
5. Update the software.
You must update the software before installing the bootptab entry in the application
processor.
6. Boot the terminal server from the TFTP boot processor.
7. Save the configuration.
Determining the MAC Address
1. Log on to the server through a serial connection using the user IDs and passwords shown.
