Power supply for the T3 IP telephone

The T3 IP telephone with hardware Levels I or II can obtain its power in different ways.
There is also a difference in how terminals requiring a power supply are recognized.
Note: If you want to supply phantom power using Cisco components, you will need spe-
cial telephone versions. You will recognize these according to PoL (Power over LAN) on
the labeling field on the base of the telephone.
2.2.1

Hardware Level I

a) Local power supply using power supply unit:
The power supply unit (49.9906.8444) is connected to the IP telephone. It then supplies
power to the telephone and also to the link, if one is present.
Voltage from power supply unit: 40 V DC / max. 150mA, Pin 8 = +40 V, Pin 7 = GND.).
b) Remote power supply via LAN (Power–over–LAN):
The telephone obtains its power from the two unused wire pairs of the LAN cable (this is
only possible when these wires run without interruptions throughout the installation).
Polarity: Pins 7,8 of the LAN socket: nom. – 48 V DC (35...57 V), Pins 4, 5: GND or 0 V.
Max. range: 100 m with cat. 5 cable 26 AWG (same as transmission range acc. to
IEEE802.3u).
Detection procedure complies with Standard 802.3a/f for power able terminal with "big ca-
pacitor detection" manufactured by Co. Power Dsine.
