Service operation
Note:
You can force a software update:
Method 1 (the configuration file must include not only the desired numeric key but
also the name of a software file and the "Bootlist" must be set to "on"): While the tele-
phone initializes, keep the numeric key you wish to use for the software file held
down.
Method 2 (no conditions apply): While the telephone initializes, keep the + key held
down. The software file which appears on the "DEFAULT" line in the configuration file
will always be loaded.
Method 3 (the IP Admin Tool (→ p. 77) sends a trigger to the IP telephone for auto-
matic or user–controlled software updating):
With automatic software update, the IP telephone resets and loads the software file
which appears in the "DEFAULT" line of the configuration file.
With user–controlled software updates, the "New software available" menu item ap-
pears on the idle display. Activating the menu item makes the IP telephone reset and
then download the software file which is specified in the "DEFAULT" line of the config-
uration file.
Method 4 (The trigger for automatic software updating is sent to the IP telephone
when using the maintenance signaling RESET command): The IP telephone resets
and loads the software file specified in the "DEFAULT" line of the configuration file.
Every software update starts with the configuration file being downloaded. If it was
not possible to load a configuration file, the IP telephone will uses the configuration
file last stored in the flash memory.
(c) The IP telephone sets up the connection with the FTP server and loads the software file
(application) into the flash memory.
