Service operation
There is however another way of configuring a DHCP server and that is with NETSHELL.
Proceed as follows:
In the DOS window command line:
1. Enter input netsh.
2. At the input prompt following netsh >, input the command dhcp.
3. At the input prompt after dhcp > input either the command server\\servername or the
command server IP address.
Here the server name and the IP address point to the server to be administered.
Once the connection has been established, all supported NETSH DHCP context commands
can be used.
To access the context command menu, use /? or help. All of the NETSH DHCP context
commands which are available can be listed with list.
4. Input add optiondef 1 VendorSpecificID BINARY 0 vendor=TENOVIS.
Now the option can be used in the usual way under vendor class TENOVIS in the DHCP
administration and the corresponding value set.
More information about NETSHELL may be found in the online help for DHCP administra-
tion of the Windows 2003 server via the menu (?) > Help topics > Index > NETSH com-
mands > DHCP context topics: "Interactive use of DHCP commands" and "DHCP adminis-
tration via the command line".
