Measurement on PC port
For service purposes it is sometimes necessary to analyse the IP packets received by the
phone. With hardware level I this is straightforward to carry out on the PC port. Hardware
level II can filter out phone–specific IP packets from the switch or forward them to the PC
port.
Settings are made in the blocked features list of the audit menu ( → S. 177; Port mirroring,
Promiscuous Mode).
Note:
Promiscuous mode remains active until manually deactivated. Even a reset will not affect
the "Measurement on PC port" setting.
Measurement on the PC port is only possible with a LAN data rate of 10 Mbit/s.
Up to C–package step II, "Measurements on PC port" could only be configured in the
audit menu. The settings were automatically reset at 00:00 every day or after a manual
reset.
The load for the IP telephone is higher in promiscuous mode, as all packages are now
sent from LAN to the telephone and PC. A connected PC with a high network load also
stresses the IP telephone.
