In the absence of a default gatekeeper, the T3 IP telephone will always perform a
multicast gatekeeper search. In this case the alternative gatekeeper entries have no
significance.
•
For their part, alternative gatekeepers cannot overwrite the entries for alternative
gatekeepers in the telephone.

The entry for Alt GK1 is always determined by the default gatekeeper. If no alternative
gatekeeper entry has been defined in the system, during registration for Alt GK1 the
IP address 0.0.0.0 will be transferred and adopted in the IP telephone. This corre-
sponds to deleting the Alt GK1 entry in the IP telephone. Only Alt GK2, which was
entered manually, is protected against being changed by the default gatekeeper (but
not by the DHCP server).
