Gatekeeper

A gatekeeper is responsible for the access authorization of the IP telephones. Gatekeeper
functions are implemented by the IPV VoIP module in Integral 55.
Alternative gatekeepers (Alt GKs) can be set up in the case of Avaya T3 IP telephones with
software B package and above. These serve as substitutes in the event of the default gate-
keeper failing or not being reachable. The alternative gatekeepers must be installed in the
same module of the CS I55 as the default gatekeeper.
The default gatekeeper can be configured in different ways:
•
via the DHCP server
•
via web terminal
•
manually by telephone input
•
via the TCM tool
Note:
If the default gatekeeper was changed in Web Terminal or manually or by telephone input,
the telephone will carry out a reset. If the DHCP specifies a different default gatekeeper af-
ter the reset, the old entry will be overwritten and this default gatekeeper used.
