Service operation
c) Remote power supply using LAN (phantom power supply with Cisco compo-
nents):
The telephone is supplied with power using the signal wires in the LAN cable. This is also
possible with 2–pair cables.
Polarity: Pins 1,2 of the LAN socket: –48 V DC (35...57 V), Pins 3,6: GND or 0 V.
Max. range: 100 m with cat. 5 cable 26 AWG (same as transmission range acc. to
IEEE802.3u).
Detection for power able terminal follows Co. Cisco Systems procedure (e.g. for Switch Cat-
alyst3524XL PWR).

Hardware Level II

a) Local power supply using power supply unit:
Same as 2.2.1. a)
b) Remote power supply via LAN (Power–over–LAN):
Same as 2.2.1. b)
But: detection and power supply in accordance with current standard 802.3a/f (midspan).
c) Remote power supply using LAN (phantom power supply):
1. Procedure (with Cisco components): same as 2.2.1(c)V:
