Turn off the monitor and all peripheral devices such as
printers, modems and expansion boxes.

Turn off the system unit.
Before you unplug the power cord and open the system
unit, wait about one minute. This allows time for the
power supply capacitors to safely discharge.

Remove all cables, loopbacks, terminators and power
cords from the back of the system unit and monitor.

Wait a few minutes for the monitor to discharge.

Move the monitor away from the system unit (this
requires two people).

Remove the system unit cover.

Attach the antistatic wrist strap.
Procedures for shutting down your software vary depending on
how your system is networked.
