Conventions
A device is a hardware unit connected to your DEC 3000 Model
300 Series AXP system that is capable of receiving, storing, or
transmitting data. The device name is a special identifier that is
recognized by the system.
The device names used in booting a DEC OSF/1 system are
identical to those used in booting an OpenVMS AXP system:
the DK/MK/ES device names shown in Table 4–3 apply to both
operating systems. In addition, a DEC OSF/1 system can be
booted using the alternate device names (RZ/TZ/ES/EZ) also
shown in Table 4–3.
