13.2.4 Stage 4: Cabling the Mediant 1000 OSN Server
The procedure below describes the cabling for installing Windows.
To cable the OSN server, take these 3 steps:
1.
Connect the CM module's (located on the Mediant 1000 front panel) RS-232 port to a
PC (DB-9 connector), using the RS-232 serial cable.
2.
Connect the CM module's USB port to a USB hub, using the USB cable.
3.
Connect an external CD-ROM drive and a keyboard to the USB hub.

13.2.5 Stage 5: Booting and Installing
Once you have cabled the Mediant 1000 OSN Server (as described in 'Stage 4: Cabling
the Mediant 1000 OSN Server' on page 515), you can boot and install Windows XP.
To boot and install, take these 5 steps:
1.
Start HyperTerminal on the computer and set the baud rate to 115200, 8N1.
2.
Power up Mediant 1000; HyperTerminal displays startup messages. There are three
possible scenarios:
