Appendix C How to Deal with System Failure

1 Outline of diagnosis method for system failure
When any failure has occurred, Alarm is notified by OWS/EWS (NOTE) and Alarm message is
displayed in the Alarm window on EWS/OWS. Check the following steps and restore the system
from failure.
Step1: When an alarm sounds with the Control Authorization Switch in LOCAL position, click
the "Stop Alarm" button on OWS or EWS screen.
Step2: Confirm the alarm message on the Alarm window. After confirmation, click ACK to stop
blinking.
Step3: Confirm the failure point using alarm message and "System" window.
These indicate the failed unit and part.
The following section helps to analyze the failure point.
Step4: Repair the failed equipment by the following method.
Step5: Re-start the system after repair.
2 Detail description of failure mode and "System" window
This section describes the relationship between the failure mode and "System" window and
"Alarm" window. If a failure has occurred, refer to the following items and confirm the failure
point.

When the Control Authorization Switch is set to LDC, the system does
not sound alarm.
LAN between ESW and EWS is not the object of system monitoring.

Failure in transmission between SC-1 and ESW-1. (Failure in the station level ring LAN.)
Check the following :
1.
Check that LAN cable connecting SC-1 and ESW-1 is properly connected.
2.
Check that LED for LIN ACT of SC-1 Ethernet port lights or is blinking.
3.
Check there is no damage or bend in the optical cable connecting SC-1 and
ESW-1.
