OWS/EWS
If you notice a strange smell or smoke coming from the OWS/EWS, stop using immediately and
unplug the power cable from the plug socket.
Phenomenon
Unable to switch on
power
OS doesn't start up
CD/DVD cannot be read
Noise from OWS/EWS
No FAN sound produced
from OWS/EWS
OWS/EWS power is
down automatically
Causes
Power cable is not connected
correctly.
The master switch, which is
positioned on the back of the
OWS/EWS, is turned off.
Power source is not supplied to
OWS/EWS.
HDD lock is unlocked.
Board is under abnormal
conditions and an error message
from BIOS is displayed on the
screen.
HDD lock is unlocked.
HDD failure has occurred (Red
LED is continuously illuminated
or not illuminating at all).
CD has been inserted upside-
down.
CD/DVD is damaged.
FAN is damaged.
FAN has ceased to operate.
Serious malfunction of
OWS/EWS has occurred (a
message is displayed on the
monitor).
Abnormal condition in OWS/EWS
applications or in OS has
occurred.

Corrective action
Check cable connection.
Turn on the master switch.
Check AC power source.
By using attached key, lock HDD
lock which is positioned in front of
the HDD.
Replacement of OWS/EWS main
unit is needed.
Lock HDD by using attached key.
HDD replacement is needed.
Place CD/DVD into the tray with
recorded side (silver, plain side)
down.
CD/DVD replacement is needed.
OWS/EWS replacement is needed.
OWS/EWS replacement is needed.
OWS/EWS replacement is needed.
Restart OWS/EWS and if the
phenomenon continues, re-
installation of software is needed.
