Error Handling

This section describes how the 4100 printer handles certain error conditions it
may encounter in printer or programming commands.

Syntax Errors

The 4100 printer responds to syntax errors in the messages it receives from the
host by attempting to execute the commands. It will not ignore a command
with a syntax error. Instead, the printer will produce output even if it is
erroneous. This will give you indications about what went wrong and what
should be done to correct the problem.

Parameter Errors

Certain commands require mandatory or optional parameters. If these
parameters are not supplied, default values will be substituted. If a parameter
is above its maximum range limit, the maximum value will be used. If it falls
below the minimum range, the minimum value will be used. The range and
the default value for each command is listed in Chapter 7, "Printer
Commands."
