4420 and 4440 Cutter Installation Instruction Sheet
Caution
This instruction sheet explains how to install a cutter on a 4420 or 4440 printer. The
following procedures cover attaching the cutter to the printer and connecting the
cutter to the main printed circuit board (PCB). A qualified field service technician
must install the cutter.
Integrated circuits on printed circuit boards (PCBs) in this equipment are
sensitive to damage by electrostatic discharge (ESD). Prevent ESD by always
wearing skin contact ground straps firmly attached to the equipment metal
base assembly when working inside of the equipment housing. Failure to
comply may result in damage to PCB components.

To install the cutter

1. Turn off the printer.
2. Unplug the printer AC power cord from the back of the printer.
3. Pull the bottom of the media cover away from the base of the printer, lift the
front of the media cover upward to release it from the printer frame, and lift the
media cover away from the top of the printer.
