MultiSmart Installation & Operation Manual
33 Appendix A – Fault Message Glossary
Listed below are the predefined faults that may appear on the MultiSmart.
The faults are based on an empty (or discharge) pump station with 1 pump, 1 well, Motor Protection and Flow enabled.
Fault Name
Configuration Faults
Application Failure
Config changed – reboot required
Current config failure
Fail Safe
Previous config failure
Communication Faults
Comms Channel Conflict-Modbus Slave disabled
Comms Channel Failure
IO Unit 1 DSP Comms Fault
IO Unit 1 DSP Failed Init
Modem Connection Failure
DC Supply Faults
DC Over Voltage
DC Under Voltage
AC Supply Faults (The AC voltage is specified during the Setup Wizard)
Over Voltage
Under Voltage
Volts Phase Imbalance
Volts Phase Rotation
DuoProbe / Probe Faults
IO Unit 1 Duo-probe 1 Error

Description
A software module or application has failed
The current configuration has changed and it will come into effect after a reboot
The current configuration has failed
The current config has failed or the config upgrade process has failed
The previous configuration has failed
A communication channel clash has occurred between DNP3 & Modbus
The same communication channel has been selected for both DNP3 & Modbus
Unit 1 can not communicate to all other units connected on the Can Bus
A failure of the comms between the DSP board and the 3PC board initiated a reboot
Cellular / PumpView communications can not be established
DC supply is greater than the specified maximum
DC supply is less than the specified minimum
AC voltage is greater than the specified maximum
AC voltage is less than the specified minimum
Phase-phase voltages differs by more than the specified minimum
The incorrect phase rotation (or phase sequence) is connected
If the difference between the level from the pressure sensor & the probe is too great
e.g. probe = 40% & press. < 30% or probe = 40% & press. >60% then fault displayed
All pumps are held out if the pressure transducer level is above the low range limit and
1
the probe is reading 0%. The pressure transducer is still used as the level source.
A sensor lower than the highest active sensor is not active - on Probe 1
The Fail Safe loop in the probe has become open circuit (i.e. >4k ohms)
Circuit Breaker has tripped
Contactor has failed to close (Active input (1) = no fault)
A user definable fault (A link or source required)
Fault input timed out after pump started (Active input (1) = no fault)
A user definable fault (It's a 'Hidden' fault so "Fault" does not flash only "Holdout")
The Power Factor has fallen below a specified threshold
Number of pump starts has exceeded the specified maximum within a 1 hour period
