SATA Configuration submenu

The SATA Configuration submenu reports on the mass storage devices
(connected to the SATA ports) that have been auto-detected by the BIOS. This
submenu also allows you to disable these devices.
Meaning
These items report on the SATA devices connected to the individual SATA ports. If there is no SATA device
connected to an individual port, it is reported as Not Present.
If there is a SATA device connected to a port, the name of the device is reported. When the SATA device is
also a storage device, the storage capacity of the SATA device is also reported.
This item sets the mode of the SATA controller.
When set to Disabled, the SATA controller will disable all SATA ports.
When set to IDE, the SATA controller will operate in legacy (IDE) mode. SATA devices will be emulated as IDE
devices. This option should be chosen for older operating systems that do not support AHCI. Note that the
default installation of Microsoft Windows XP requires this mode.
When set to AHCI, the SATA controller will operate in AHCI mode. Newer operating systems such as
Microsoft Windows 7 for Embedded Systems 64-bit, and Microsoft Windows Vista support AHCI; devices
will be configured as SATA devices that support AHCI.
When set to RAID, the SATA controller will operate in RAID mode. This setting is not recommended.
This item enables the specified SATA controller for each of the SATA controllers on your
Matrox Supersight SHB-5520 board.
When set to Compatible, the SATA controller is enabled and operates in legacy mode.
This item appears once for each SATA port on your Matrox Supersight SHB-5520 board
(that is, SATA ports 0-5).
This item allows you to enable eSATA support for each SATA port. Since the Matrox Supersight backplane and
the SHBs do not have eSATA connectors (which are different than standard SATA connectors), a PCI board
with eSATA connectors would need to be installed in the unit.
This item appears once for each SATA port on your Matrox Supersight SHB-5520 board, that is, SATA ports
0-5.
Note that this item should be left at its default setting.
Note that this item
is only visible if
the SATA mode
item is set to IDE.
