Serial Port Console Redirection submenu

The Serial Port Console Redirection submenu allows you to select different
settings for console redirection through the COM ports.
The following item is available for COM 0, COM 1, and the serial port for
out-of-band management. Out-of-band management systems (such as, Windows
Emergency Management Services (EMS), or Cisco Out-of-band Management)
typically allow for full control of your Matrox Supersight SHB-5520. They permit
control ranging from remote rebooting (including BIOS and POST messages) to
hardware sensor monitoring.
Meaning
This item allows you to control the console redirection. Console redirection allows you to control the unit
from a remote location. It re-directs keyboard input and output through a serial port. You can decide when
console redirection is active (that is, when the serial port is available to send/receive input).
When set to Disabled, console redirection will be turned off for the selected serial port after POST.
When set to Enabled, console redirection is active for the selected serial port.
Note that this item is optimized for use with COM1.

Console Redirection Settings sub-submenu

The Console Redirection Settings sub-submenu allows you to set the transmission
settings for console redirection. The redirected console can be retrieved by a remote
terminal program (such as, Hilgraeve's Hyperterminal
sub-submenu is only available if Console Redirection is enabled.
Meaning
This item allows you to set the emulation of the remote terminal that can access the unit via the serial ports.
You must set the remote terminal type so that your unit and the remote terminal can communicate;
otherwise, a user on the remote terminal will not be able to perform remote actions on the unit's BIOS Setup
utility.
Note that the default setting of this value is optimized for the Matrox Supersight SHB-5520 board.
*. Note that HyperTerminal is copyright Hilgraeve Inc. It is available as part of a Micro-
soft Windows XP installation. With Microsoft Windows 7 however, HyperTerminal is
no longer part of a Windows installation. You can download a private edition trial of
HyperTerminal from the Hilgraeve website.
