26 Chapter 1: Before you begin

LEDs on the bracket of the SHB

There are two network LEDs for each of the Gbit Ethernet ports on the bracket
of each SHB.

The following two LEDs are available for each Gbit Ethernet port:
• Activity/link LED (green). The activity/link LED for the Gbit Ethernet port turns
green when the port is connected to a network, and blinks during data transfers.
This LED shuts off when there is no connection present.
• Gbit LED (yellow). The Gbit LED turns yellow when the port is using the
1000BaseT Ethernet network connection, and the LED turns light yellow when
the port is using the 100BaseT Ethernet network connection. When this LED is
off, it indicates that the unit is using the 10BaseT connection, but only if the
activity/link LED is green.
