• Half-duplex mode
A communication method that involves sending or receiving information.
However, this cannot be done simultaneously. For example, all hubs operate in
half-duplex mode.
• Host
In general, Host refers to the principal processor in one's computer.
• IP address
Internet protocol address. The electronic address of a computer (station) on a
TCP/IP network, which is unique for every client and server station. Client
workstations have either a permanent or dynamically assigned address. The
IP address is a dot address that is written as four sets of numbers separated by
periods, also called dotted quad notation (for example, 203.142.62.2). The
TCP/IP packet uses 32 bits to hold the IP address.
• Isochronous
Refers to processes where data must be delivered within certain time constraints.
• Keying
A display effect that switches between two display sources depending on the pixel
values in one of the sources. Keying is used to make portions of the overlay surface
transparent so that corresponding areas of the underlay surface can show through
it.
