18 Chapter 1: Before you begin
Operating system
The Matrox Supersight unit is shipped with Microsoft Windows 7 for Embedded
Systems, 64-bit.
The following 32- and 64-bit operating systems are also supported, and can be
installed using Microsoft's Migration rights
• Microsoft Windows Vista for Embedded Systems.
• Microsoft Windows XP Professional for Embedded Systems.
If you downgrade to Microsoft Windows XP Professional for Embedded Systems,
you will need to install Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) to take
advantage of all the features available in the Matrox Supersight unit and the Matrox
Imaging Library (MIL).
To downgrade the operating system, contact your Matrox representative.
❖ Note that if you try using any other operating system, there might be driver issues
(for example, driver issues with USB devices). Refer to the documentation
accompanying the operating system for more information.
If installing an operating system on your unit, refer to the readme file on your
Matrox Supersight system drivers and utilities DVD. It contains additional
information regarding installing the appropriate the device driver/utility software
for the Intel chipset, display driver, and Intel Integrated Ethernet driver for your
Matrox Supersight SHB.
1. Migration rights allow you to use prior versions of Microsoft Windows software. For
