Advanced menu

This section describes all the items of the Advanced menu. Refer to the section
entitled The Legend window subsection of the The BIOS setup utility section for
guidelines on navigating within this menu.
❖ Note that all default settings have an asterisk * next to them.
Meaning
This item allows you to enable loading instructions from a PXE optional ROM (OpROM) device that contains
pre-boot execution environment (PXE) instructions that enable your unit to boot from your network. When
enabled, the PXE OpROM requests an IP address (from a DHCP server on your network) and downloads an
operating system (a kernel, using FTP from a server on your network), and then boots your Matrox
Supersight SHB-5520 using the downloaded operating system. A PXE OpROM is an optional ROM, meaning
that it can be disabled and your unit will continue to boot normally.
Additional steps are required to boot your Matrox Supersight from a network device. Once this item is
enabled, you must save the BIOS settings, reboot, and then re-enter the BIOS settings and verify that the
network device is the first in the list of potential boot devices in the Boot menu. If it is not, set it as the first
device, save the BIOS settings, and reboot.
If using unified extensible firmware interface (UEFI) devices instead of PXE, enable the Network Stack option
instead. For more information on the Network Stack option, refer to the Network Stack submenu subsection
of the Advanced menu section, later in this appendix.
This item allows you to enable loading instructions from an optional ROM (OpROM) on a legacy mass
storage device. Optional storage ROMs are used primarily by third-party storage devices that require specific
boot-up code that must be run before the operating system loads. Your BIOS considers them OpROMs
because they must be enabled in the BIOS before they will be run.
Note that the default setting of this value is optimized for the Matrox Supersight SHB-5520 board.

PCI Subsystem Settings submenu

and PCIe settings for devices connected to the Matrox Supersight unit.
Meaning
