E.1 Standard matrices for the concentration
measurement application
The standard concentration matrices available from Micro Motion are applicable for a variety of process fluids.
These matrices are included in the ProLink III installation.
Tip
If the standard matrices are not appropriate for your application, you can build a custom matrix or purchase a
custom matrix from Micro Motion.
Matrix name
Description
Deg Balling
Matrix represents percent extract, by
mass, in solution, based on °Balling.
For example, if a wort is 10 °Balling and
the extract in solution is 100% sucrose,
the extract is 10% of the total mass.
Deg Brix
Matrix represents a hydrometer scale
for sucrose solutions that indicates the
percent by mass of sucrose in solution
at a given temperature. For example,
40 kg of sucrose mixed with 60 kg of
water results in a 40 °Brix solution.
Deg Plato
Matrix represents percent extract, by
mass, in solution, based on °Plato. For
example, if a wort is 10 °Plato and the
extract in solution is 100% sucrose, the
extract is 10% of the total mass.
HFCS 42
Matrix represents a hydrometer scale
for HFCS 42 (high-fructose corn syrup)
solutions that indicates the percent by
mass of HFCS in solution.
HFCS 55
Matrix represents a hydrometer scale
for HFCS 55 (high-fructose corn syrup)
solutions that indicates the percent by
mass of HFCS in solution.
HFCS 90
Matrix represents a hydrometer scale
for HFCS 90 (high-fructose corn syrup)
solutions that indicates the percent by
mass of HFCS in solution.
