Front Panel Keycodes
Your program can control or monitor the analyzer's front panel with the
use of the SCPI SYSTem:KEY commands.
Controlling the Front Panel
The front panel can be controlled by sending commands to execute the
function of specific keys. The SCPI command SYSTem:KEY <char>
sends a key name to the analyzer which executes the same function as
the corresponding front panel key. For example, SYSTem:KEY FREQ will
execute the function of the
FREQ
hardkey.
Every hardkey and softkey has a unique key name. Refer to the last
table in this chapter for a list of all key names.
Monitoring the Front Panel
The front panel can be monitored to determine when a key has been
pressed or when the knob (RPG — rotary pulse generator) has been
turned. Key presses from an attached PC keyboard can also be captured.
When keys are pressed or when the knob is turned, the analyzer detects
this event, sets bit 0 of the Device Status Register (see
Chapter 5, "Using
Status
Registers"), and stores the associated information in a key queue.
Your program can use the SCPI SYSTem:KEY commands to read the
contents of the key queue.
