To remove a mirror hard disk from a RAID hard disk cage

1 Remove the RAID hard disk cage from the main unit (or advanced function tray) (see
"Removing a hard disk cage" on page
2 Disconnect the hard disk IDE connectors from the mirror hard disk and RAID card.
3 Unscrew the hard disk retainer screws from both sides of the RAID hard disk cage (see
130). Lift the mirror hard disk IDE ribbon cable to access the retainer screw. Place the retainer
screws in a safe location.
4 Remove the mirror hard disk from the RAID hard disk cage (see

Disconnect the mirror hard disk IDE ribbon cable

from the hard disk and RAID card

5 Place the hard disk on a flat, clean, and static-free surface.

Installing a hard disk into a standard configuration hard disk cage

Use this procedure to install a single hard disk into a hard disk cage for a standard BCM200 or
BCM400 system.
Caution: Use only Nortel-approved replacement components. Contact your account
representative for the current list of approved replacement parts.
Caution: It is vital that you connect the correct IDE ribbon cables to the correct hard
disks. Connect the primary IDE ribbon cable to the primary hard disk. Connect the mirror
IDE ribbon cable to the mirror hard disk.
