Park Brake Switch

Purpose

The purpose of the brake switch is to ensure the
machine is in neutral and the parking brake is applied
before attempting to start the machine.

Location

The park brake switch is located on the right side of the
seat, behind the park brake lever (Fig. 492).

How It Works
When starting, it functions to ensure the park brake is
in the ON position. At the same time it allows current to
flow through the remainder of the starting safety circuit.
When the park brake is released in the OFF position, it
bypasses both neutral switches, permitting the control
levers to be used, as long as the operator is in the seat
to maintain current to the safety circuit (Fig. 493).

Testing

1. Disconnect the switch from the wiring harness.
2. Using a VOM or test light, check first to ensure there
is no continuity between either terminal, plunger out.
3. With the plunger pushed in, there should be
continuity between the terminals.
