CHASSIS
9. Engage the parking brake. Measure the overall
length of the compression spring (Fig. 167).
Measure the overall length of the compression
spring. The correct length should be between 1-1/2"
and 1-9/16" (3.8 and 4.9cm). If the spring length is
within this range, no adjustment is needed. If it is
not, proceed.

10. Hold the end of the threaded rod with a tool and
adjust the lock nut until the spring length is between
1-1/2" and 1-9/16" (3.8 and 4.0cm) (Fig. 168).
Note: DO NOT allow the cable to turn when the nuts
are being turned.

11. Disengage the parking brake. Rotate the drive wheel
release handle to the released position. Turn the
wheel hub by hand in both directions relative to the
caliper; no drag of the caliper pad on the wheel hub
is desired.
12. After adjusting the brake, cycle the brake handle a
minimum of six times to allow the cable to seat into
the sheath and mounting tabs. Recheck the spring
length.
13. Rotate the drive wheel release handle to the
operating position.
