Upgrading an IP403 to Software Level 2.1

The following instructions are for upgrading an IP403 only from software Level 1.4 to
software Level 2.1.
Installing IP Office software also include the appropriate .bin software files for the
hardware units within the IP Office system.
1. Remove the existing IP Office suite, see Removing Existing IP Office Admin Suite on
page 44.
2. Insert the Administration CD containing the software Level upgrade to be installed.
Perform Installing the IP Office Software Suite on page 42.
3. Do not open the Manager application at this stage.
4. Using the Explorer on your PC open up the Program Files | Avaya | IP Office |
Manager | IP403V1_99 folder. This will contain a file called ip403.bin. This file is
version 1.99 of the IP Office 403 firmware and contains the loader that is required to
upgrade from Level 1.4 to Level 2.0 and must be used in place of the existing
ip403.bin file.
Copy this file to the Manager folder within the IP Office suite on your PC, that is,
Program Files | Avaya | IP Office | Manager, to overwrite the existing ip403.bin file.
5. Open the Manager application and from File select Advanced | Upgrade.
With Manager opened, use the Open
configuration from the IP Office system (use the password of the existing
configuration). With the required configuration opened, from File select Advanced |
Upgrade.
6. The IP Office UpgradeWiz is started and will scan for IP Office units. For the units
found it will show the unit type, its currently installed software Version and what
version of software is Available from the IP Office Manager installed on your PC.
Units for which a later version of software is available will be already ticked.
7. If any of the units have pre-version 2.1 software shown, untick Validate. The
validated upgrade option is only supported for units which have 2.1 or higher software
installed. The current Version and the Available version are displayed. Tick the
required box under Name and click on Upgrade.
8. Enter the password of the existing configuration (not the default). Click OK and IP
Office will reboot and undergo the upgrade cycle. This takes around a minute to
complete. On completion, click OK to finish. This will close the UpgradeWiz window.
9. Using the Explorer on your PC open up the Program Files | Avaya | IP Office |
Manager | IP403V2_0 folder. This will contain a file called ip403.bin. This is the Level
2.0 IP Office firmware.
Copy this file to the Manager folder within the IP Office suite on your PC, that is,
Program Files | Avaya | IP Office | Manager, to overwrite the existing ip403.bin file.
10. Repeat steps 5 – 8 of the above procedure to upgrade and save the software.
The upgraded software Level 2.0 will now be running with the existing (previous)
configurations and licenses intact. If the configuration file is not correct, then re-install the
original .cfg file(s) saved during step 1 in Removing Existing IP Office Admin Suite and re-
install in Explore | Program Files | Avaya | IP Office Manager.
