9. PC I/F PBA

This section describes the functions of the PC I/F PBA.

The PC I/F PBA connects this machine to the PC through the parallel interface conforming to
IEEE1284, and is connected to CN9 on the Main PBA.
With the machine connecting to the PC, PC facsimile transmission by which the data trans-
ferred from the PC is transmitted to the telephone line, PC facsimile reception by which the data
received from the telephone line is transferred to the PC, and use of the PC scanner by which
a document is scanned by the machine and the data is transferred to the PC are enabled. This
machine can also be used as a printer.
To connect the PC to the machine, connect one end of the parallel interface cable to CN1 and
connect the other end to the parallel port of the PC.
Communication data (PIFD0-7) between the PTC GA (IC45) of this machine and the PC is sent
or received through the gate (IC5).
The control signals (SELECT signal, NFAULTX signal, NACKX signal, BUSY signal, PE signal)
output from the PTC GA are transferred to the PC through the gate (IC6).
The control signals (NSTROBE signal, NAUTFDX signal, NINITX signal, NSELINX signal) re-
ceived from the PC are input to the PTC GA through the gate (IC1).
