using the ip dhcp command. Valid IP addresses consist of four numbers, 0 to 255, separated
by periods. Anything outside this format will not be accepted by the configuration program.
ip dhcp
This command sets the IP address for the currently selected VLAN interface. Use the no form to
restore the default IP address.

Command Usage
• You must assign an IP address to this device to gain management access over the network or
to connect the access point to existing IP subnets. You can manually configure a specific IP
address using the ip address command, or direct the device to obtain an address from a DHCP
server using this command.
• When you use this command, the access point will begin broadcasting DHCP client requests.
The current IP address (i.e., default or manually configured address) will continue to be
effective until a DHCP reply is received. Requests will be broadcast periodically by this device
in an effort to learn its IP address. (DHCP values can include the IP address, subnet mask, and
default gateway.)
dns server
This command specifies the address for the primary or secondary domain name server to be used
for name-to-address resolution.
Syntax
dns primary-server <server-address>
dns secondary-server <server-address>
• primary-server - Primary server used for name resolution.
• secondary-server - Secondary server used for name resolution.
• server-address - IP address of domain-name server.
