You can select the antenna the wireless access point uses to receive and transmit
data. There are three options for both the receive and the transmit antenna:
Option
Description
Gain
Sets the resultant antenna gain in dB.
Diversity
This default setting tells the wireless access point to use the antenna that receives the
best signal. If the wireless access point has two fixed (non-removable) antennas, you
can use this setting for both receive and transmit. If the device has three removable
antennas, you can use this setting to have all of them operate in diversity mode
Right
If the wireless access point has removable antennas and you install a high-gain antenna
on the wireless access point's right connector, you can use this setting for both receive
and transmit. When you look at the wireless access point's back panel, the right
antenna is on the right.
Middle
If the wireless device has removable antennas and you install a high-gain antenna on
the wireless device middle connector, you can use this setting for receiving only. The
antennas available for transmitting in a three-antenna configuration are the right and
left antennas.
Left
If the wireless access point has removable antennas and you install a high-gain antenna
on the wireless access point's left connector, you can use this setting for both receive
and transmit. When you look at the wireless access point's back panel, the left antenna
is on the left.
Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to select the antennas the
wireless access point uses to receive and transmit data:
1. Enter global configuration mode.
configure terminal
2. Enter interface configuration mode for the radio interface. The 2.4 GHz
radio is radio 0, and the 5 GHz radio is radio 1.
• The 802.11n 2.4 GHz radio is radio 0
• The 802.11n 5 GHz radio is radio 1.
interface dot11radio {0 | 1}
3. Specify the resultant gain of the antenna attached to the device by entering
a value from -128...128 dB.
This If necessary, you can use a decimal in the value, such as 1.5.

4. Set the receive antenna to diversity, left, middle, right, or all.

This setting does not affect the behavior of the wireless device; it
informs only the WLSE on your network of the device antenna gain.
