Content Addressable Memory (CAM)
Content addressable memory (CAM) is a type of memory that stores information in the form of a look-up
table (LUT). On Dell Force10 systems, the CAM stores Layer 2 and Layer 3 forwarding information,
access-lists (ACL), flows, and routing policies.

CAM Allocation
Allocate space for IPV4 ACLs and quality of service (QoS) regions by using the
CONFIGURATION mode.
The CAM space is allotted in field processor (FP) blocks. The total space allocated must equal 13 FP
blocks. Note that there are 16 FP blocks, but the system flow requires three blocks that cannot be
reallocated. The default CAM allocation settings are:
