To configure and enable the interfaces for Layer 2, use the following commands:

Task
1
If the interface has been assigned an IP address,
remove it.

Place the interface in Layer 2 mode.
3
Enable the interface.
To verify that an interface is in Layer 2 mode and enabled, use the
INTERFACE mode.

Enable Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol Globally

You must enable RSTP globally on all participating bridges; it is not enabled by default.
To enable RSTP globally for all Layer 2 interfaces, use the following commands:

Enter the PROTOCOL SPANNING TREE RSTP
mode.

Enable Rapid Spanning Tree.
Note: To disable RSTP globally for all Layer 2 interfaces, use the
SPANNING TREE RSTP mode.

Indicates that the interface is in Layer 2 mode
