Pouring the concrete
Aggregates
Aggregates must conform to the ASTM specifications for concrete aggregates,
C33. Coarse aggregates must be graded from 3/4 in. (1.09 cm) to No. 4.
Lightweight aggregates are not permitted.
Water
Water must be free from injurious amounts of impurities. Potable water must
be considered as meeting the requirements of the specifications.
Concrete
All concrete must conform to ASTM specifications for concrete:
Tools required
A spirit level tool is required.
Materials (concrete forms as required)

Slump of the concrete must be 2–4 in. (5.08–10.16 cm), inclusive,
determined in accordance with ASTM C143 which tests the slump of
Portland cement concrete.
The minimum acceptable compressive strength for the concrete is 4,000
PSI, determined in accordance with ASTM C39 which tests the
compressive strength of concrete cylinders.
For concrete made with Types I or IA Portland cement, the ASTM C143
and ASTM C39 tests must be performed at twenty days following the
pouring of the pad.
For concrete made with Types III or IIIA Portland cement, the applicable
ASTM tests must be performed at seven days following the pouring of the
pad.
Water must not be added to the concrete batch after test samples for slump
tests and strength tests have been taken.
The equipment, materials, and methods used for production of concrete
must ensure the required quality and conform to the applicable
requirements of AC1318.
