corrosion
inside container.
Charging rate too high.
Too much water added to
battery and charging
rate too high.
Spillage from over-filling.
Reduce charging rate by
adjusting voltage
regulator.
Drain and keep at proper
level and adjust voltage
regulator.
Use care in adding water.
Repair or clean.
Adjust voltage regulator.
Battery freezes.
Discharged battery.
Replace.
Water added and battery
not charged immedi-
ately.
Always recharge battery for
1/2 hour following
addition of water in
freezing weather.

Leaking battery jar.
Battery polarity reversed.
Battery consumes excessive
water.
Frozen.
Connected backwards on
airplane or charger.
Charging rate too high
(if in all cells).
Replace.
Battery should be slowly
discharged completely
and then charged correctly
