m. To remove the piston tube plug (37) with "0" ring (36) located in the lower end of the pison
tube, remove the bolt assembly (15) and inser a rod up through the hole in the body of the fork (17). Push
the plug out through the top of the rube.
6-10. Clning
Inspecion And Repair Of Noe Gear 0eo.
a. Clean al parts with a sursuble dry type cleaning solvent.
b. Inspec the landing ge oleo assembly component for the following:
1. Bearings and bushings for excess wear, corrosion. scratches and overall damage.
2. Rerainng pins for wear and damage.
3. Lock rings for cracks. burrs, ec.
4. Cylinder and orifice rube for corrosion, scratches, nicks and excess wear.
5. Upper and lower cylinder bushings loose or urning in cylinder.
6. Orifice plae for hole restcron.
7. Fork rube for corrosion, scratches, nicks, dents and misligunment.
8. Air valve general condition.
c.
Repair of the oleo is limited o smoothing our minor scrarches, nicks and dents and replacement of
pas.
d.
Indivdual replcement of the wiper srip may be accomplished per instrucions given in paragraph
6-40.
6-11. Assembly Of Non Gear Oeo. (PA-24-180 and PA-24-250, Serial Nos. 24-215 and up; PA-24-260
and PA-24-00.) (Refer to Figure 6-2.)
a. Ascertain hat parts are cleaned and inspected.
b. To instal the piston rube plug (37), first lubricae the rube plug and "O" ring (36) with hydraulic
fluid (MIL--5606), and
rstall the "0" ring on the plug. Lubncate the inside wall of the piston cube (35),
insert the plug into the top of the rube and push it to the fork end. Align the bolt holes of the fork (17).
cube and plug, and install bolt (CT) (15) with washers (51) and nut (30). (If a new rube (35) s to be
insalled that has not been drilled, press the rube into the fork piston housing (17) untl it bottoms. Using
the bolt holes in the fork body as a guide, drill a pilot hole and ream to 0.250/0.252 through each side of
the rube wall. Remove burrs from the inside of the rube and flush the rube with a uitable solvent to
remove all metal particles.)
c.
If desired, cement a cork in the hole in the bottom of the fork body to prevent dirt from entering
between the fork and rube.
d. To assemble the components of the onfice rube (34). insert the onfice plate (40) into the bottom
of the tube, and secure with the snap nng (41). Lubricate and instal the "0" nng (38) on the upper end of
the tube. Install ring (39) (PA-24400 only) on the lower end of the rube.
e.
Insert the onfice rube (34) up through the bortom of the cylinder (33). With the tube exposed
through the top of the cylinder, insall the lock washer (24) and insert roll pn (23) through the lock washer
inro the cylinder. Install the tube locknut (22) only finger tight t thu time.
f.
The fork (17) and cube (35) assembly may be assembled by installing the tube components on the
rube. In order slide onto the tube. the snap nng (49), washer (48). lower bearng (44) with inner and outer
"O" nngs (45 and 46) and upper bearings (43). Align the lock pin holes in the upper bearing with the pin
holes n the piston rube(35) and install pins (42).
