5-18. Insllation Of Elecricaly Operated Flp Control. (PA-24-250 and PA-24-260.) (Refer to Figure
5-5.)
a
To intall the flap ctuing mechanin auembly, connect the acuaing urms (14 and 15) to the
upper spar support ube and insert the pivot bolt Tighten the bolt o a snug fit with no binding of the
aum Connect the flap position ender rod (12) to the actuating am.
b. The actuating motor and tranmision may be insalled s a unit.
NOTE
Refer to Lubricaion Charn Special Intructions for specific lubriction
insructions of flap raamsion
asembly.
Place the nanmision end between the two brackets leading from the spar support insert locking pin (19)
and afety. Connect the tranmision actuating screw (22) to the lower portion of the aczaig
arms inuser
bolt (23) and secure Connect the elecrical leads to the motor, refering to the electrical diagram in Section
IX. Opeae the motor to aure proper elecrical hookup.

The flap bellcank (6) may be inualled by placing into posiion, inalling the pivot bolt securing
the bellcrank and tighten to a snug fit. Install the flap control rod(33)and bellcrank return spring (4).
d. The control cable that leds from the fuselge to the wing may be installed by connecting the
cable to the bellank
and drawing it through the wing into the fuselage. Enter through the wheel well and
install the cable pulley.
e. The control cable ( 5 ) tha is within the fuseige should be connected to the wing cable and flap
ransmission actating arm (15). Intll
cable plley(s). On Serial Nos. 24-4000 to 24-4246, 244248 to
24-4299 connect tension spring (42) to the cable end of the left turnbuckle
i.
To install the flap return cable (27) in the left wing, enter through the wheel well and place the
return cable through the railing edge of the wing. Connect the cable to the leading edge of the flap, raise
the flap and connect the return spring (43) to the bracket located at the inboard side of the wheel well.
g. The combination flap return and sep lock auembly(44)in the right wing is installed by entering
through the wheel well and installing the 'step lock mechanism with the cable wrapped around the pulley
and secured. Insert the cable end to the flap, through the trailing edge of the wing and into the flap. Star
the adjusting nut (45) a few threads onto the cable end. Draw the tension spring (43) in place at the
inboard side of the wheel well. Place the flap retraction cable to the aft side of the release arm pulley (3).
Ascertain that the step lock will disengage and engage when the flap is retracted.
h. Rig and adjust per Paragraph 5-19 and reinstall access panels, wheel well splash pan, rear sat. etc.
NOTE
Sal exterior access panel with zinc chromate rape applied to panel and
fuselage.
