BREAKER COMPARTMENT
3. Secure disributor block to housing wirh studs nd washes. Tighten studs finger dght. Loosen
the 114465 Rotor Hoiding Tool and turn rotaing magnet n reverse direction of rotation until timing light
mdicates man conat assembly hu Jus opened and check to make cerain rimung marks align within
tolerance indicated above. Tighten block securing scuds, fust o 4-8 inch pounds torque and then final
torque to 20 inch pounds.
4. Inserr the tp of your small finger through tming hole in housing and against large distribuor
gear teeth. Rock disributor gear back and forth slightly. There must be perceptible backlash between teeth
of large uad small gen. This check should be made at three different points, 1200 apart on gear. If
backlash is not evident, replace large distributor ger.
5.
Insrll the breaker cover and complete reasembly of the magneto. Refer to manufacturer's
publications for complete disassembly and reassembly procedures.
f. Install and ime magneto, removed from engine, in accordance with paragraph 7C-53.
g. Secure external switch and retard leads to the breaker cover terminals. Connect harness assembly
to the magneto.
7C-5 3. Installaion And Timing Procedure. (Timing Magneto to Engine.)
a. Remove a spark plug from No. I cylinder and tur crankshaft in direction of normal rotation until
the compression stroke s reached.
NOTE
The advance
nmng mark on the top face of the starter ring gear
s
marked at both 20
°
and 25 BTC. Use only the 25
°
BTC mark when
tuning the magnetos to the engine.
