244. Propller.
245. Servcin Propeller. The propeller blade. spinner nd visible hub urfaces hould be cleaned and
inspected frequendy for damage, cracks and oil leahge. Nicks should be removed from the leading edge of
the blade in accornce
with applicable FAA regulations or inrmUetio found in Sections VII dra VIIC
The face of each blade should be painted when necesry
with a flat paint to retard glare. To prevent
coacrion. wipe surfaces with
lit
oil or wax. The blades bhoule be checked that they turn freely on the
hub pilot tube by rocking the blades bck and forth trough the slight freedom allowed by the pitch change
mechinm.
Lubricate the propeller ax 100 hour interval in accordance with the Lubricaion Cart, Figures
2-20 thru 2-22. Ascertain propeller is charged m the proper chamber presure. Additional ervice
information for the propeller may be found in Secrions VU tir
VUC.

VIIC) for the particular induction airfilter being
serviced.
2-48. Fuel Synstes
249. Flling Fue Tanks. Observe all required precurions for handling gasoline Fill. he fuel tanks with
fuel specified in Table 11-1. On the PA-24-180, to obtain the standard fuel quantity of 50 gallon total, or
25 gallon per tank the cells are filled only to the bottom of the filler neck, which extends into the fuel
cell about I inch. To obtain the stndard plus reserve quantity of 60 gallons the cells are filed m the cop of
the filler neck. On the PA-24-250 and PA-24-260. to obtain the standard fuel quantity of 60 gallons toal.
or 30 gallons per tank. the fuel cells are completely filled. If auxiliary fuel cdis are insalled (15 gal. a.) the
fuel quantity is increased to 90 gallons. On the PA-244-00. o obtain standard fuel quantity of
approximately 100 gallon, fill both inboard cells completely and the outboard cells until fuel appean at
the bottom of each fuel cell when appearing through the filler neck. To obtain standard plus reserve, 130
gallons, fill the outboard cels completely.
CAUTION
Accumalation of water in the fuel tanks could cause rough engine
operation or complete power loss if the water freezes during cold
weather operation. Therefore, to keep condensation in fuel tanks at a
minimum. refuel the aircraft after each flight.
