9-92. Baery.
9-93. S
eriing mB ery. The butery is located either in the engine comparmenr attnched to the firewll
or in the fuselge directly ft of the bagage compIrtment The bttery is enclosed in stainles teel box
with vet system. and a drain when che box is insalled in the fuelage. The vent allows fresh airo enter
the box and drw off fumes that may accumulate due to the chiaing proces of the bttery. The drain is a
plstic rube located on the bottom side of the box which is normally dosed off with a dlmp and should be
opened occasionally to drain off any accumulacion of liquid or during cleang of the box The batery
should be checked for fluid level, but must not be filled above the baffle plates. A hydrometer check should
be performed to determine the percent of chuge preent in the battr.
All connections must be clean and
ght. If the battery is not up to normal charge, recharge stuting with charging rate of four amperes and
finishing with two nmperes.

External power should not be connected to or removed from aircft
with master switch ON.
9-95. Chqring Battery. When recharging the battery, it should be removed from the airplane. (Refer to
paragraph 9-97.)

Remove cell caps and check fluid leveL
b.
Begin charging rate it 2 amperes and fminshing with I ampere.
c. Should the battery boil over, clean per paragraph 9100.
d.
When battery is completely chared, reinsall in the airplane.
9-96. Srting Through Exrnli Power Receptacle With Airplane' Banery Neiy Depleted.

When using a 12 volt battery for external power strting and the urplane's battery is nearlv
depleted, the following procedure should be used:
1. Disconnect the airplane's battery at the neganve erminal to prevent excessive loading of the
external startng battery.
2. Check tha all of the airplne's electrical equipment is urned OFF.
