generator speed and make sure the cutout relay REGULTO
turned all in. Slowly decrease (turn out) the
resistance until cutout relay points close.
Note closingvoltage. With coverin place slowly
increase(turn in) resistance to make sure points
open.
d. Adjust closing voltage by turning ad-
justing screw (Figure 9-12). Turn screw clock-
wise to increase setting and counter-locikwise
to decrease setting.

Air Gap - Check and adjust in exactly the same manner as for the voltage regulator.
Current Setting - Current regulator setting on current regulators having temperature comn
pensation should be checked by the following method:
Load Method-
a. Connect ammeter into charging circuit, as in Figure 9-13.
b. Turn n all accessory load (lights, radio. etc.) and connect an additional load across the
battery (such as a carbon pile or band of ligts) so as to drop the system voltage approximately
one volt below the voltage regulator setting.
c. Operate generator at specified speed for

regulator is not temperature-compensated, dis-
