5-17. Removl Of Electrically Operaed Flap Conrols. (PA-24-250 and PA-24-260.) (Refer to Figure
5-5.)
a. Acce for the removsl of the flap acruasig mechanisl and flap control cable within the fuselage
may be reached by removing the rear st.
Acces o thecontrols in the wing may be reached by removing
the whee well splash pan and acces plate to the flap bellcnk.
b. Remove the flap mnmnmsion usembly by disconnecting the motor electrica leads, extactng pin
(19) ax the ransmnision housing and removing bolt (23) at the forward section of the actuatng screw.
c. Actuating arms (14 and 15) a
removed by disconnecting control cables (2 and 5) at the arms, the
flap position sender rod and removing the pivot bolt at the top spar support tube.
d. To remove the control cable (2) located in the fuselage, remove the cable pulley(s) and disconnect
turnbuckle (46) loted
inside the fuselae. On the PA-24-180, PA-24-250. PA-24-260 Serial Nos. 24-4000
to 24-4246 24-4248 to 24-4299 dsconnect tenion spring (42) with left tubuckle.
e. The control cable located in the wing may be removed by entering through the wheel well and
removing the cable pulley. Disconnect the cable a the bellcran and draw the cable through the fuselage or
wheel well.
f.
To remove the bellcrank disconnect the flap control rod (33) and bellcrank return spring (4) a
the bellrank, remove the bolt securing the bellcrank.
g. To remove the left flap return cable, enter through the wheel well and disconnect the cable spring
(43) at the inboard side of the wheel wel Disconnec the other end at the leading edge of the flap.
h. Removal of the right fap return able and step lock mechanism s accomplished by disconnecting
the return spring (43) at the inboard ide of wheel well Remove the aft wing faring, the access plate
located at the inboard, under side of flap, and back the adjusting nut (45) off the able end. Unbolt step
lock puley mechanism (44) and withdraw support cable.
