Install iming plate and pointer on magneros without rming marks cast in the breaker
compartment (refer to Figure 7-13) or just the pointer on magneros with iming marks can in the breaker
compartment. (Refer to Figure 7-14.)
NOTE
A tuning kit. including tming plate. etc.. may be purchased through the
engine or magneto manufacturer. A pointer may be formed as hown in
Figure 7-12.
NOTE
A pointer can also be made bv wrapping a piece of soft wire tighrly
around the ead of cam securing screw and bending it to extend over
timing marks.

b. Find neutral position of the magneto drve by roartng drive coupling in a left hand direction unil
the red or white chamfered tooth on the distributor drive gear appears through the timing inspection hole
Ac the same location, the drive should feel to have fallen into a notch or neutral position.
c. Hold the magneto drive in the neutral position and bend the timmg pointer until
it
indicates 0 on
the tming plate or in the breaker comparment.
