Next, compare each colour with black. The vertical register con-
tains 2 3 sets of horizontal lines, where black is compared with
cyan (K–C gap), cyan with magenta (C–M gap), and magenta with
yellow (M–Y gap). There are two sets for each colour gap and you
can use either one at will.

Start by comparing black (K) and cyan (C) patterns, e.g.:
Black (K)
In this example, cyan is slightly offset in relation to black, and the
black and cyan lines are best aligned at position -4. This means that
there is a negative 4 dot misalignment, that needs to be adjusted. Do
not bother with misaligments of one dot or less, since such small
errors will hardly be possible to detect on the printed label.
When adjusting the K–C gap (see chapter 4.12), you should sub-
tract 4 from the value initially displayed on the display panel. E.g.
if the K–C gap value 6 is displayed, change the value to 2.
When the vertical register looks like this on the test label, the vertical
position is OK and you can go on and adjust next colour gap.
