Intermec ColorCoder V4 – Installation & Operation Ed. 1
Before starting to print your first colour label using the ColorCoder
V4 with the Windows printer driver, you should have installed the
printer according to chapter 4, i.e.....
• assembled the printer,
• removed the pad under the PHS cover,
• loaded the four Collux ink cartridges,
• connected the printheads,
• connected the printer to a power supply,
• started the printer in the Service Man Mode,
• performed an installation cleaning,
• started the printer in the User Mode,
• loaded a roll of Collux labels, tags, or strip,
• selected a paper type that matches the loaded paper stock,
• printed a series of test labels,
• evaluated the test labels and, if necessary, adjusted the vertical
and horizontal register positions,
• adjusted the stop position,
• saved the settings in the printer's memory,
• connected the ColorCoder V4 to the parallel port of your PC,
• and installed the Windows printer driver in your PC.
You will also need to start up a suitable application program in
Windows. You can use almost any kind of program, but – obviously
– dedicated label editing programs and standard programs for
creating layouts or illustrations with full colour support are best
suited for producing labels.
We recommend the "ColorCoder V4 Label Software" application
program delivered on a CD-ROM with the printer. This program
also makes it possible to include variable data fields on your labels.
The interface between the application program and the ColorCoder
V4 driver may differ from case to case in regard of page setup and
printing facilities, just as you will notice when you use e.g. a laser
printer. In chapter 5.3, the features of the Windows printer driver are
described in detail.
