11. Install the Smart Storage Battery in the chassis:
a. Insert the holder tabs into their corresponding chassis slots, and then slide the holder down
b. Connect the battery cable to the system board.
12. Connect the Smart Array cache backup power cable.
13. Install the air baffle on page 51.
14. Install the access panel on page 49.
15. Do one of the following:
Server in tower mode: Position the tower server for operation on page 42.
Server in rack mode: Slide the server into the rack on page 47.
16. Connect all peripheral cables to the server.
17. Connect each power cord to the server.
18. Connect each power cord to the power source.
19. Power up the server on page 38.
20. Install the front bezel on page 40.
The installation is complete.

Expansion board options

The server has eight PCIe3 expansion slots that support full-height expansion boards.
The PCIe3 expansion slots 2 and 4 have a ×4 link width. To take advantage of the full features of a ×8 or ×16
expansion boards, Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends installing these boards in a ×8 or ×16 expansion
slot as well.
