Processor cautions

CAUTION:
When handling the heatsink, always hold it along the top and bottom of the fins. Holding it from the
sides can damage the fins.
CAUTION:
To prevent possible server malfunction and damage to the equipment, multiprocessor configurations
must contain processors with the same part number.
CAUTION:
If installing a processor with a faster speed, update the system ROM before installing the processor.
To download firmware and view installation instructions, see the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support
Center website.
CAUTION:
THE CONTACTS ARE VERY FRAGILE AND EASILY DAMAGED. To avoid damage to the socket or
processor, do not touch the contacts.

Install the processor heatsink assembly

Prerequisites
Before you perform this procedure :
Make sure that the fan cage is available.
Make sure that the following items are available:
Processor heatsink assembly option
T-30 Torx screwdriver
Procedure
1.
Remove the front bezel on page 39.
2.
Power down the server on page 38.
3.
Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
4.
Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
5.
Do one of the following:
Server in tower mode: Position the tower server for hardware configuration on page 41.
Server in rack mode: Extend the server from the rack on page 43.
6.
Remove the access panel on page 48.
7.
Remove the air baffle on page 50.
8.
If you an installing the processor in the processor socket 2, remove the fan cage.
9.
Remove the processor socket blank.
Retain the blank for future use.
