7. If the controller firmware is not the latest version, use SPP to update it.

Expansion board options

The server has three PCIe 3 expansion slots that support different form factor expansion boards. For more information on
the PCIe slot specifications, see PCIe slot description on page 24.

Installing an expansion board

Secondary riser slot 3 is not available when a Smart Array type-a module controller is installed in the system.
Prerequisites
Before you perform this procedure, make sure that you have the following items available:
Expansion board option kit
Internal and external cabling required by the expansion board
T-15 Torx screwdriver
Procedure
1.
Power down the server.
2.
Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3.
Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
4.
Do one of the following:
Extend the server from the rack.
Remove the server from the rack.
5.
Remove the access panel.
6.
Identify the PCIe slot compatible with the expansion board option.
7.
If installing the expansion board in the primary riser:
